A fun Saturday & A Deck Session with Zack

Anne-Marie and I had a late start heading out to the Saturday Market in Urbana, Illinois.  We had shopping list of produce for Sara, and in addition to being late, we had threatening clouds not far off in the distance.  Anne-Marie stopped at the first large produce vendor, and I dashed on exploring the sights.Although the market is called a farmers market, there are many other items for sale.  I would guess that less than half of the vendors have non food items, such as craft items, jewelry, wood working items, T-shirts, and the political booth row.  Every local cause, Politian, and political party, had a booth promoting their concerns, and as last week they were grouped in their own row.  I wore a Northwest T-shirt, with a picture of Mt Hood on it to look the part of a tourist, and to avoid having to explain time and time again, that I cannot vote on local issues.

Several vendors were displaying very well done wood working items.

Wide shot of a truck with sides that open to display their preserves and jellies.  There was another row of jars that didn’t get into the picture. and nearly every one displayed, represented a single unique flavor.  This was so well done as a display, that only after I was reviewing the pictures yesterday, I discovered that the front end is a truck, at the moment I didn’t observe it.

Peaches and other produce beyond.

The threatening storm clouds did surround the city, and in addition to big loud thunder, rained big drops, and lots of them for a while.

When the rain started, Anne-Marie and I were under cover at a booth displaying T-shirts with designs by a local artist, Larry Steinbauer, and we both have a souvenir of the Farmers Market.
Zack and Jessica

Saturday evening after dinner, I wandered over to the neighbors deck, where Zack is always the gracious host, and welcomes conversation, and seems to be the eager one to keep me out late.  I snagged this picture of Zack off of his Facebook page, to show who their guest for the evening was.  Zack and Amber had Jessica, and Tom over for dinner, and somehow I slipped in to the group.  Zack in addition to his many intellectual achievements, has a skill and talent for taking incredible pictures and is always showing his work off on Facebook.

Sunday was a non adventure day for us.  Anne-Marie made good smells in Sara’s kitchen with a beef stew in her slow-cooker.

Anne-Marie and I will be pulling the trailer somewhere north on Thursday, and we have yet to decide where to.  When we are wandering about and touring the area, we sometimes don’t know where to go, till we get to a fork in the road.  It’s difficult to explain how whimsical this type of travel is, even when pulling a 34ft trailer behind us but if we get tired, we just pull over in the nearest RV Park.  Some of our accidental overnight stays, have been lots of fun.  I think that we want to escape the heat and humidity of the Mid-West for a few days.  We have talked about straight north through Michigan, or turning right to Detroit and Canada.  We are probably going to have a easy first day, maybe to St Joseph, Michigan, on the shore of Lake Michigan, this area reminds us of the Oregon coast.  We’ll see what attracts us.
