We seem to be following the Heat

We were disabled in Wall South Dakota, and our van was towed to the Ford dealer in Rapid City, South Dakota for repairs.  The engine was repaired wonderfully, and the air-conditioning/heating unit was repaired, so that the vents now blow air really good, but all wasn’t well.  The van was returned to us by the service manager, to save us a trip to Rapid City, an hours drive away, and it was a really hot day, and he had the A/C on max air, to cool the interior.  The A/C normally didn’t need to be on the highest setting before the repair, but its hot outside.  We are now four states away and the A/C needed to be on the highest setting, even on a moderately warm day, so I decided to have it checked out here in Urbana.

The repair appointment was at a repair shop right downtown, and I decided to have lunch at a local restaurant the Crane Alley Restaurant and Bar, that was within walking distance.  There is a interesting program here called the Crane Alley World Wide Beer Tour, and to be successful, you need to sample 100 beers, the restaurant awards you with a brass plate engraved with your name, placed with the other folks that have completed the tour.  They have some rules, only four a day, its tracked with a credit card like system, and it seems that at least a months stay in town would be necessary to complete it.  I have a few friends that would probably give it a go.

The A/C now works like it should, and really cold.  The unpleasant part of living on the road and having vehicle repairs, and leaving town the vary next day, is that if things just don’t feel right, and you are 2 or 3 states away from the repair shop, you have to put your trust in another shop, and hope the problem is resolved.

The heat is being reported as record breaking near 100s and a heat index of 100-110, and last week when I was working on outside projects at Sara’s, I got ill every day from the heat, sweating, and not drinking enough water.  The heat really beats me up, and I don’t get thirsty, I just get really sweaty.  Today I have another project with their white car, that they sold, and had to take back because it started to run really bad before it got to the new home.  The problem may be an easy fix, and I hope I can figure it out.

Tomorrow we are making an another attempt at visiting the Rockome Gardens, Amish Museum.
